Since graduating with an MSc in Photonics in 2011, I have pursued a career in the development and application of lasers. I have worked in industry, both in labs and in client-facing roles. In 2018, I returned to academia, completing my PhD in 2022, and am currently working as a postdoctoral researcher.
Skills and experience include optical alignment, component procurement and characterisation, cleanroom fabrication, laser cavity construction, computer aided design, technical writing, project management, material processing, academic teaching and supervision, writing for journal publications, and client engagement.
Outreach activities include a magazine publication on the history of cataract surgery, presenting and hosting an event for vulnerable adults to discuss the impact of laser technology in society, and collaborating with an artist for an exhibition as part of the Festival of Creative Learning.
When I'm not working, my main interests include going to the gym 3-4 times a week, running, camping, socialising, reading, travelling, being outdoors as much as possible and playing the drums. I am also the Business Manager of an art business.
